Atlanta, GA. (December 18, 2019)– Refuse To Do Nothing is pleased to announce the third annual “Celebrating Cross” Gala & Silent Auction to raise funds for FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) will be held at the Brookfield County Club.

Included in the cost are hors d'oeuvres, dinner, open bar, music, dancing, a silent auction and a dollar dance with the Guest of Honor.

A food allergy is defined as “an abnormal immune response to food”. Many of us think the effects aren’t a big deal: when the phrase ‘food allergy’ is mentioned we think of heartburn, maybe some hives, upset stomach, etc. Inconvenient yes, but harmless.

But for so many, that’s not nearly the case.

With 15 million Americans living with a food allergy, we all know someone who has one. For so many, even a minor exposure to their allergen – and not necessarily ingesting it, but even being in the same room with it – can cause a violent reaction.

“Celebrating Cross” is a party and silent auction organized to – as the title says – Celebrate Cross – an amazing little boy who almost lost his life 3 years ago to anaphylactic shock from a severe nut allergy.

While Cross was out to dinner with his family, they ordered a brownie for dessert to share – and of course made sure it was nut-free.

While only taking one bite, Cross began to show signs of anaphylactic shock within seconds. While the brownie was indeed without nuts, the flour used was cashew flour – deadly to someone with a nut allergy. Thankfully, after spending five days in PICU at the Scottish Rite Hospital, Cross is a happy, thriving, fantastic 10 year old ready to celebrate and represent the Gala to raise funds to help others.

Please consider joining us at Celebrate Cross – 100% of the proceeds are donated to FARE to “pay forward” our gratefulness for Cross’s survival and continuing to live with a Level 5 food allergy.
